| (UNFSTD)jointly established UN Technological Information Promotion System (UN TIPS) –a global technological,economic, trade information system aiming at promotion of trad- e, technology transfer and business cooperation between developed nations and developing c- ountries and among developing countries.TIPS International Operation Center is located in Ro- me,Italy.TIPS also has regional centers in Asia, Europe, Latin America and sub regional center- s in Central America. More than 100 countries are connected via TIPS. For a better implementation of TIPS, in conformity with the approval of UNDP, TIPS intergover- nmental managerial committees set up International Development Information Network Assoc- iation (DEVNET).DEVNET is a UN non-profit, non-governmental organization officially registere- d in 1989 in Rome (Italy) to undertake the multilateral international collaborative project. Being an executing agency of UNDP, DEVNET is responsible for coordination between TIPS internati- onal organs as well as operation management of the system. In 1995, the Economic and Soci- al Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) granted DEVNET with permanent consultative stat- us(Category I). In accordance with the requirements of TIPS Headquarters, national branches of TIPS member countries established relevant DEVNET national bureaus in their countries. |
